When you’re in tech…
Software tools are thrown around in conversations on the regular. A lot of product managers (PM) and tech designers are familiarizing themselves with this tool:
Figma
Figma is a web-based, collaborative design & prototyping tool. It’s a place where you can create efficient mobile app prototypes, graphic designs, website layouts, and more.
Heck, they even support gifs. You know how much we love gifs.
Companies that use this tool: Uber, Zoom, Dropbox, Twitter, Square, Coinbase, Slack, and sooo many more companies you’d recognize.
Spotify migrated to Figma, and here’s their take on why they switched over.
Honestly, if you check out this website, you might fall in love with what you can do with it (like designing, bringing your idea to life, participating in hackathons, etc).
It’s a freemium business model…
Meaning the basic features are free for you to get started. If you’re a student, you can get the premium service for free (for 2 years).
To sum it up:
It’s a tool increasing in demand for tech companies.
Great for PMs to understand out how to bring a product to life.
Amazing for product designers in the tech scene (graphic, UI/UX, etc.)
How to learn Figma?
It can be stressful learning a new tool by yourself. We know. There are tons of resources online for you to get started! But if you prefer a community-style learning environment…
We recommend joining learning cohorts like Enlight.
Learning cohorts are great if you work best with:
Learning by doing
Live instructors with clear learning paths and goals
Accountability
Supportive community
Enlight is hosting a two-week cohort on learning to build a clickable, high-fidelity prototype using Figma. Looks so cool we want to try it ourselves 🤓
Spicy take on our end: we're thinking this cohort might be more relevant and up-to-date than a typical college course 🤷♀️ just sayin’.
Thanks Enlight for reaching out to us!
Tech Pod Resources: Youtube | Instagram | LinkedIn | TIKTOK??
Thanks for reading. Who reached the bottom? Raise ya hand 🙋♂️Raise ya hand meaning respond to this gosh darn newsletter ya know what we’re saying?
Tell us how your week was! Or better yet, how was midterm 😂
That stuff be stressful. Reply and we'll cheer you on heh.
