🐋 Wait, you don’t save your feedback?
And this just in - Google internships for students and grads! Plus more full-time roles at Cash App, Lyft, Elastic, and more.
Hello, Tech Pod! 💦
You should be saving all of your performance reports, feedback, and success metrics from your job or, if you’re a student; their equivalent in school.
Why? 🤨
Keep scrolling for 3 reasons + a system to make the process effortless and habitual.
⬇️
1. Mine precious resume material 💎 ⛏
Since you’re a Tech Pod reader, you’re savvy enough to know to leverage metrics from your current job to land your next job.
But, even with that knowledge, it’s common for us to not actively record this data as we work because we assume:
We’ll remember it when resume building later
We’ll have access to the files and just look at them then
To the first, trust us — you will forget. And to the second — you may forget where they are, they may get deleted, or you could lose access to files. Plus, if you’re trying to apply to jobs on the low, you won’t want to ask around to get access to that data.
2. Innovate yourself 📈 🏋️♀️
Feedback is a precious material necessary for innovation.
But feedback doesn’t have inherent value on its own — that’s dependent on the attention you pay to it.
The more attention you give to your feedback the more valuable it becomes as you use it to improve your work and outputs.
Considering your feedback only when it is given is a waste of potential – store it and review it over time to continuously take it into account, and thus generate the most value you can.
Bonus: convert critiques into actionable goals and set practical steps to accomplish them. ✔️
3. Remember how awesome you are 💯🔥
Everyone goes through low points, it’s one of the few things we can rely on.
In regard to work, there are times when we feel like imposters, failures, etc.
Our changing circumstances and emotional whims distort our view of reality and cause us to lose sight of the bigger picture of our growth.
Minimize the depth of despair you fall into by returning to your feedback and remembering all the compliments and wins you’ve had (or to see how far you’ve come!).
The system 🖥📂
There’s only 1 principle here:
Make it easy.
Make a single folder that you can drag and dump things into without a second thought. No organizing. No overthinking.
The goal is to make this an instinctive thing you do while actively working.
It isn’t something you save to do later. The value in it is only if it’s done right away. Because let’s be honest, we’d never get to it otherwise.
Just screenshot, drag, and drop. 👍
