đWisdom for your job-seeking journey II
Weâve got Apple internships for students and grads! And even more opportunities at Kyte, Vivun, Twilio, and more!
Hello, Tech Pod! đŚ
This time last year, we released âWisdom for your job-seeking journey.â
(If youâve been along since then, youâre a real one) đ
And we were so happy to see it become our most-loved newsletter.
With autumn (happy fall, btw!) comes student recruiting and lots of workers looking to switch things up. What better time than now to bring it back?
So, without further ado â hereâs WFYJSJ Pt. 2!
Letâs go!
Youâre farther ahead than you know đââď¸
We know you:
Youâre striving for greatness, reaching for your goals, and longing to fulfill your potential.
Which means:
Your gaze is mostly upwards âŹď¸ â to those above you, to better jobs, etc.
And itâs a giftâŚ
But, itâs easy to lose sight of how far ahead you already are.
If you have vision, determination, and a general idea of your path forward â count yourself fortunate.
The world is a much different place outside of your college, your friend groups, and online productivity content â many people are still figuring out what youâve already got.
On that basis, youâre much farther than you can see from your vantage point, remember how far youâve come, and be thankful for your advantages.
You can get smarter đ§
The tech industry is knowledge work, and itâs competitive.
And after a series of rejections, itâs common to begin to feel like we may not be cut out for it â that weâre just not smart enough.
This may especially be the case for those of us who werenât raised by parents that spent a lot of time and resources on cultivating our talents like others, or who didnât have access like our peers.
But it doesnât matter.
Take a dive into studying neuroplasticity and youâll discover the amazing potential your mind has to grow into adulthood.
Youâre not stuck with a static level of intelligence. And you have the power in your hands to cultivate your own talent as an adult.
Protect your perspective from poison
Donât let the majorityâs scarcity mindset poison your perspective of what is possible.
Weâve all heard it, itâs everywhere:
âThe way things are nowâŚâ
âIn this economyâŚâ
â[blank] is just so expensiveâŚâ
âItâs so competitive now, Iâll neverâŚâ
Or, there are posts online about how impossible it is to get a job for new grads, how doomed it all is, how the system is rigged, etc.
Run fast and far from this line of thinking.
This perspective of the world is an infectious self-fulfilling prophecy that becomes true only when enough people come together and believe it.
Cut out that noise and talk to people who have gotten what you want, youâll likely hear a different story. + Be intentional with who you allow to influence your thinking.
In the news:
3rd-largest tech company in the world fined by SEC â for corruption đł
Hereâs a think piece about the niche of AirPods â and the genius of them đ§
Devil in the details â we expected it, but now we can prove that remote work drove up housing prices đ
Oh, look at that â tech opportunities! â¨
